RTi was formed in 1979 by co-founders Mel Rothstein and Richard Tauber. Mel was a group brand manager and Richard was a market research professional. Together, they had an idea — novel at the time — that research companies could and should provide clients with more than just a deck of tabs or a static report. They saw an opportunity to redefine the role of the research supplier by acting as business partners and extending their clients’ research teams’ ability to provide actionable insight to management. With Mel’s marketing and brand management knowledge and Richard’s expertise in execution, they opened the doors for what has become a leading global research company.
Back in 1979, Mel and Richard’s tenet of partnering with clients was unique and truly groundbreaking for the market research industry. Today, we all know the idea has not only taken hold, but has become “cost of entry” for any research company.
